*All updates will be conducted in the Library at each building.

*Please be aware that time is needed before each session for the Tech Department to setup, so updates will not be completed prior to the scheduled times listed above nor will requests for separate times outside of the schedule be accommodated. Thanks for your understanding.

Spring Update, Inventory & Assessment: May 7th-18th

  • (2-3) members of the Tech Dept will be available in the Library, before & after school on designated days

  • (1) day for each elementary, (2) days for middle and high school

  • Those missing the update MUST schedule a time with Tech Department on Wednesday, May 23

  • The staff member must be present to have their laptop updated as well as their password reset. Another staff member may not drop off laptop.

CrashPlan for Home subscriptions is no longer being offered and your plan will not be renewed after October 22, 2018. While you still have time remaining on your current subscription, we encourage you to select a new plan now to ensure a your data continues to be backed up. We are pleased to suggest the following options for data backup.

  1. Google Drive(Highly Recommended)-Teacher and Staff user data can be backed up at no charge using Google’s cloud services. Files are backed up using Google’s Back-Up and Sync application. There is no limit on the amount of storage for educators. (See Backup and Sync).

  2. Carbonite for Home-Carbonite has partnered with Crashplan. Like Crashplan, Carbonite provides automatic and continuous backup for all user data files. However, there is a cost associated with this solution. Please click on the above link for more details.

  3. Purchase of an external hard drive– there are several good hard drive manufacturers that supply external hard drives: Seagate, Toshiba, and/or Western Digital. We recommend a storage capacity of 500 gigabytes or more. These drives come with software that essentially controls the backup process. (If you decide to purchase one of these drives, please contact the Technology Dept. to install this software.) Also, please select a drive that has been formatted for Windows.

  4. Flash Drives– several teachers have asked about the use of flash drives as a backup medium. Please note that these drives generally do not have the storage capacity to accomodate a complete backup, can be lost or stolen, and can fail. These are not recommended for this purpose.

*Please note: the Technology Department will back up staff user data on a temporary basis while we are repairing equipment. Users are responsible for backing up their own data!
